About Jonathan Dunsmoor
Some years ago, Jonathan Dunsmoor approached Gresham International, claiming he was conducting an "investigation" into the firm on various matters, including questioning the legal credentials of its team members. This unusual and unsolicited behavior raised immediate concerns, which were further amplified when we discovered that Dunsmoor had edited portions of his law firm's website to closely resemble Gresham International's. He even went as far as mirroring the well known Instagram username of our Managing Associate. On top of this, he attempted to speak at several of the same events as our Managing Associate, even going out of his way to target events where he was speaking and demand the ability to speak, often demanding that he do so alongside our Managing Associate.
In response to these actions, Gresham International initiated an investigation into Jonathan Dunsmoor's professional conduct. During this investigation, we discovered that Dunsmoor had falsely represented himself on multiple websites as being licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania, and claimed to have offices in various cities where he was neither licensed nor had any actual team members.
Additionally, Jonathan may have operated a firm which never actually had offices in Buffalo, NY where he claimed to be working. All of his office addresses seem to have belonged to another third party law firm.
During the investigation, we learned that Jonathan was independently suspended from his practice of law by New York for omitting his criminal behavior from his original bar application.
Jonathans behavior and discrepancies were reported to the appropriate authorities, leading to a public reprimand against him. The California Bar warned him about his unethical conduct, and his behavior was reported to the New York Bar Association. His actions raised significant concerns, and our firm continues to monitor and respond to any further misconduct.
Since Suspension
Since his suspension, Jonathan Dunsmoor has intensified his harassment campaign against Gresham International and our Managing Associate. His fixation on the firm and its inner workings has escalated to an alarming degree. In an effort to cause reputational damage, he has authored several articles filled with falsehoods and distorted information.
To make these articles appear credible and increase their visibility, Dunsmoor has utilized SEO (Search Engine Optimization) services, ensuring that these misleading pieces rank highly in search engine results. He also writes a mix of 'information' articles and defamatory articles to mask his behavior.
While these articles may seem authentic, they are constructed with the intent to deceive, misinform, and harm the reputation of Gresham International and its team members. Despite these attempts, we remain committed to defending against this targeted campaign of misinformation and will continue to work with the appropriate authorities to address his unlawful actions.
It is clear from his writings that Jonathan Dunsmoor lacks a proper understanding of how the practice of law functions in other countries, as well as in several states within the USA. His numerous articles are riddled with inaccuracies, falsehoods, and misinformation, often revealing a fundamental misunderstanding of legal practices outside his limited scope.
These articles frequently contradict themselves, a telltale sign of someone manipulating facts to suit their own narrative. His attempts to distort the truth only serve to further expose the unreliability of his claims, as he selectively presents information to mislead readers, all while lacking the legal authority or knowledge to back up his assertions.
Worryingly, Jonathan Dunsmoor has obtained confidential client documents and has published private information, demonstrating a blatant disregard for both U.S. federal laws and the national privacy laws of the UK. His actions not only violate the trust and privacy of the individuals and organizations involved but also highlight his willingness to flout legal standards and ethical boundaries. This reckless behavior underscores his lack of respect for the law and his willingness to compromise the privacy of others in pursuit of his personal vendetta.
Jonathan may attempt to disguise his actions under the pretense of free speech or public interest. However, the spread of false information, defamation, and targeted harassment are neither protected nor acceptable behaviors. These actions go beyond the bounds of lawful conduct and professional responsibility. His articles that are constructed concerning 'research and/or due diligence' are often full of false or wrong information.
In some instances, Jonathan's publications and actions wonder into the realm of sycophantic. He will not hesitate to contact multiple team members or senior team members of an organsation to pass over false information. Jonathan's belief that he is right is fueled by nothing more than revenge for his reprimands and warnings by State Bar organisations. The reality is that Jonathan broke the rules, on more than one occasion, his prior omission of criminal conduct and attitude toward regulators (as documented in the judgement against him) is a telling sign that he fails to accept responsibility for his actions. Since his suspension he has blurred the line between the practice of law (running a law firm website, using a law firm email, veiling his suspension and claiming to have the authority to represent other parties) and being suspended. Jonathan is attempting to find solace in blaming our Managing Associate for his reprimands. Going so far as to label judicial functions as 'scammers'.
We trust that the public, along with other legal professionals, can easily distinguish between legitimate concerns and what is clearly an unhealthy obsession. Gresham International remains steadfast in ensuring that such behavior is exposed for what it is, and we will continue to protect our team and clients from these unwarranted attacks.
Worryingly, Jonathan Dunsmoor seems to have aligned himself with a 'charity' which may or may not be a charity nor registered to accept donations. The spelling errors and badly designed website are often a show that the organsation is not in operation.
Our Managing Associate, Cal
For clarity, our managing associate is not, and has never been, under any criminal or legal investigation. Every frivolous report filed by Jonathan Dunsmoor with regulatory bodies has been thoroughly reviewed and dismissed as both false and lacking credibility. At the time of writing, there have been five complaints made against our Managing Associate. All have been dismissed. Jonathan exhibits a letter from the Wisconsin Bar Association where they passed the matter to another department. The unlicensed practice of law in Wisconsin (as claimed by Dunsmoor) would not be investigated by the State Bar. Again, Jonathan clearly confused about how the practice of law works in other states and who would investigate such behavior. For clarity, we have written confirmation from the District Attorney that there is no referral and no investigation being undertaken into our Managing Associate.
We have initiated legal proceedings against LinkedIn and Twitter for allowing Jonathan to use their platforms to further his harassment campaign. Furthermore, we have received written confirmation from nearly every relevant agency affirming that there are no ongoing investigations against Gresham International or any of its team members.
We have also worked with independent third parties to check our internal processes, marketing, and outward materials. We have made changes based on their recommendations and will continue to work with them in an effort to improve our standards.
Our Managing Associate continues to maintain a spotless record and a valid license to practice law.
At Gresham International, we are committed to transparency in all aspects of our operations. This is why we actively choose to join professional bodies and voluntarily agree to be bound by their strict rules and codes of conduct. We believe that accountability is essential, which is why we openly publish the details of every organization we, or our team members, are affiliated with or regulated by. This approach reflects our dedication to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in our work.
